Famous Studios is reshaping its business around a more integrated content model, bringing capabilities across creative development, production, VFX, post-production, branded content and digital media under a single operating ecosystem. The company, founded in 1946, is undertaking the restructuring under managing director Anant Roongta, with the new model designed to connect different stages of the content value chain rather than operate them as standalone services.
Famous Studios will now operate through four verticals: Post-Production & VFX, Brand Solutions, Films & Original Content, and Digital Media. Together, the businesses span creative development, production, CGI, editing, sound, colour, branded content, IP creation and digital-first content. The structure is aimed at giving brands, filmmakers and content creators access to multiple capabilities through one partner, covering the journey from developing an idea to production, post-production and final delivery.
“The content industry is moving towards greater integration, speed and creative collaboration, and we believe ‘Famous’ has a role to play in shaping that shift. We have always been early to recognise where the industry is headed, and this is the next step in that evolution. By bringing production, VFX, post, technology, IP, Brand Solutions, Films, AI, Social Media and emerging formats together under one ecosystem, we are making it simpler for brands and creators to move from an idea to execution with one connected partner. For us, innovation has always been about staying ahead of the curve and continuously creating what the industry needs next,” said Anant Roongta, managing director, Famous Studios.
He added, “The new business strategy is intended to address an increasingly fragmented content landscape, where brands and content makers often work with multiple specialist partners across different stages of a project. At Famous Studios, these capabilities can now be accessed through one connected ecosystem, creating greater continuity between creative, production and execution while simplifying the journey from brief to final delivery.”
Expanding beyond production and post
Famous Studios’ recent work includes films such as Animal, Kalki 2898 AD, IB 71 and Article 370, reflecting its involvement across the production and post-production ecosystem. Alongside its established capabilities, the company is building out its Films & Original Content and Digital Media businesses. Its digital-first platform Ground Zero is also expanding into YouTube Shorts and other formats.
AI is being integrated across the company’s creative and production workflow, including concept development, visualisation, production, VFX and post-production. Famous Studios is also developing projects that combine AI and CGI with traditional production techniques. The restructuring also comes with changes to the company’s physical footprint. Its corporate office has moved to Santacruz, while its studios now operate from Andheri West.
The company’s Mahalaxmi studio, which has historically hosted film, advertising and broadcast work, has also been used for major broadcast operations, including FIFA Qatar and IPL broadcasts during its Jio era. With the new structure, Famous Studios is positioning its different capabilities as parts of one connected content business, spanning creative development, production, technology and distribution across traditional and digital formats.
