For many Indian households, Diwali begins well before the first diya is lit. The cleaning, fresh coats of paint, decorating and getting everyone involved are all part of the excitement. Bringing this familiar festive routine into the spotlight, Asian Paints has launched ‘Taiyyari Shuru, Tyohaar Shuru’, a musical campaign that celebrates the joy of getting homes ready for Diwali.

Conceptualised by Ogilvy, the campaign film turns everyday household preparations into a lively festive experience. Set to a foot-tapping tune, it brings together families, friends and relatives as they clean, decorate and give their homes a fresh new look. Rather than treating these activities as chores that need to be completed before the celebrations begin, the film presents them as moments that make the festival special in their own right.

Asian Paints finds its place within this larger festive narrative by highlighting the role of home makeovers in Diwali preparations. The campaign connects the idea of refreshing living spaces with the excitement of welcoming the festival, making the process of preparing a home part of the celebration itself.

Amit Syngle, CEO and managing director, Asian Paints, said: “Diwali is not just a festival; it is an emotion that begins to build much before the celebrations officially start. The preparations are an important part of this journey, bringing families and loved ones together through shared tasks, conversations and moments of joy. With ‘Taiyyari Shuru, Tyohaar Shuru’, we wanted to celebrate this beautiful build-up to Diwali and highlight how every preparation, including giving the home a fresh new look with Asian Paints, becomes a part of the festive experience. Through our musical ad film, we have captured the energy, warmth and togetherness that make Diwali preparations so special.”

For Ogilvy, the musical treatment comes from recognising that festive preparations have their own energy and rhythm. Sukesh Nayak, group chief creative officer, Ogilvy India, said: “Diwali isn’t just a few days; it’s a whole season of festivity. And this is our story. With Asian Paints, we wanted to celebrate the joy of the preparations, and the magic and chaos that come with the festival. That chaos has a rhythm, and we set out to capture it in a musical. It’s warm, foot-tapping, and completely familiar.”

With ‘Taiyyari Shuru, Tyohaar Shuru’, Asian Paints takes a familiar aspect of Indian festive culture and gives it the spotlight. The campaign moves away from focusing only on the final picture of beautifully decorated homes, choosing instead to celebrate everything that happens before it. From a marketing perspective, this creates a natural connection between the brand’s home improvement offering and an occasion when consumers are already thinking about refreshing their spaces. More importantly, the campaign taps into an emotion that extends beyond the product: the happiness of preparing for something special together. It reinforces the idea that Diwali is not simply a date on the calendar, but a feeling that builds with every little preparation.
