The latest film under #MeriBetiStrong turns the familiar idea of mothers raising strong daughters on its head, showing how that strength can eventually become a source of support for the mother herself.
Clinic Plus has marked Daughters’ Day with a new film that looks at the mother-daughter relationship from the daughter’s point of view, focusing on the moment when a daughter moves from being cared for to becoming a source of courage for her mother. Built around the thought, ‘Maa ki Majboori nahi, Beti Hoti hai Maa ki Mazbooti’, the film follows a daughter who gradually understands the compromises her mother has made and eventually helps her imagine a different life.
The story begins at a book launch, where the mother is asked about the inspiration behind her collection of poems. Rather than taking credit herself, she points to her daughter. The film then goes back to the daughter’s childhood to show how their relationship evolved. As she grows older, the daughter starts noticing the compromises her mother makes within her marriage. While people around her advise the mother to adjust, the daughter takes a different approach, encouraging her to consider what she wants for herself.
The narrative eventually moves beyond the daughter simply recognising her mother’s struggles. She becomes an active source of support as her mother chooses to rebuild her life on her own terms. The story then returns to the book launch, where the mother’s earlier gesture towards her daughter takes on a deeper meaning. The film extends Clinic Plus’ long-running focus on the mother-daughter bond, but changes the direction of that relationship. Instead of only showing mothers preparing daughters to become strong and independent, the campaign explores how those qualities can come back to the mother when she needs them most.
Harman Dhillon, executive director, beauty & wellbeing, HUL, said, “A mother raises her daughter to be strong, empathetic, and independent, and one day, that becomes the mother’s greatest anchor. This film is a celebration of that beautiful shift, where the confidence a mother gives her daughter becomes her primary source of support and courage. We dedicate this story to the 1.3 crore single mothers across India whose resilience not only shapes their daughters’ future, but proves that beti hoti hai maa ki mazbooti.”
With the Daughters’ Day film, Clinic Plus continues the #MeriBetiStrong platform while widening its emotional lens — from the strength mothers build in their daughters to the strength daughters can give back.
