Actor Varun Dhawan has joined Better Nutrition as a brand ambassador and investor, bringing his personal interest in farming into his association with the biofortified staples brand.
Dhawan’s connection with the company began through his own farm, where he explored soil, seeds and the food produced on his land. As part of the new association, the farm will now be developed into a biofortified farm in collaboration with Better Nutrition.
The brand offers staples including atta, dal, rice and millets, which it says can contain up to twice the levels of iron, zinc and other essential micronutrients. Its approach combines biofortified seeds, soil science and farm-level testing, including X-ray fluorescence (XRF) technology, to measure nutrient levels in crops.
Dhawan said, “We’re working together to make my farm biofortified. And yeah, Better Nutrition is my brand now too. I really like the mission behind it, and I want to be part of that journey. You’ll be seeing a lot more of me with my brand. So this is quite personal for me.”
Dhawan joins PV Sindhu, who is already associated with Better Nutrition as its brand ambassador.
For Better Nutrition, the partnership also connects its larger nutrition proposition with farming at the source. Prateek Rastogi, Co-founder and CEO, Better Nutrition, said: “We started Better Nutrition with a simple belief: if the food Indians eat every day can be more nutritious, that is where we should start. But making that happen requires much more than putting a claim on a packet. It starts with the seed, the soil and the farmer, and then requires testing and validation all the way through to the food.
Varun understood that very quickly. His decision to invest in the company and turn his own farm into a biofortified farm shows how deeply he connects with the mission.”
The company says Dhawan’s farming journey has also generated interest from other farm owners looking to explore biofortification. Better Nutrition has opened applications for its Biofortified Farm programme, allowing farm owners to submit their details for evaluation.
With Dhawan’s investment, brand ambassador role and participation in the farm programme, the association extends beyond a conventional celebrity endorsement to his involvement in the company’s biofortification initiative.
