The Moroccan actress and entrepreneur has launched Moromaa, a beauty brand inspired by traditional Moroccan ingredients and self-care rituals.

Moroccan actress and entrepreneur Soundous Moufakir is turning her cultural roots into a beauty proposition for the Indian market with Moromaa, a brand built around traditional Moroccan beauty rituals and ingredients.
Born and raised in Morocco, Moufakir began her professional journey in finance in Paris before moving to Mumbai and entering the entertainment industry. Her experience across different cultures eventually led her to explore entrepreneurship, with Moromaa serving as a bridge between her Moroccan heritage and her life in India.
The launch comes at a time when Indian consumers are increasingly exploring international beauty trends. While K-Beauty and J-Beauty have established a strong presence in the market, Moroccan beauty remains relatively niche. Moromaa aims to introduce consumers to this largely unexplored category through ingredients such as Moroccan Nila, Argan Oil, Olive Oil and Ghassoul clay.
The brand’s proposition extends beyond ingredients, drawing from the Moroccan philosophy of treating beauty as a ritual rather than a routine. Its approach focuses on bringing traditional self-care practices into a contemporary beauty context.
Unlike a conventional celebrity-backed beauty venture, Moufakir is the solo founder and CEO of Moromaa, and is involved across product development, sourcing, branding, packaging, fundraising and growth strategy.
Moromaa plans to expand its presence across skincare, haircare and body care, as it looks to establish Moroccan beauty as a distinct category within India’s evolving beauty and personal-care landscape.
