What happens when a chandelier becomes part of someone’s Diwali party outfit? Instamart has an unusual answer in its latest festive campaign, swapping conventional Diwali visuals for an unexpected dose of humour. The new brand film puts a crystal chandelier in the spotlight to promote the platform’s festive home décor collection, giving its Diwali advertising a distinctly playful identity.

Created entirely by Instamart’s in-house team, the film opens with a couple returning home after a late-night Diwali party. Just as the wife suggests calling it a night, her husband appears wearing a crystal chandelier as though it were an outfit. Looking visibly exhausted, he becomes the centre of an absurd yet amusing exchange between the two. The unexpected styling choice sets the tone for the film, using an everyday post-party situation to deliver an unconventional festive moment.

The narrative eventually leads to an Instamart delivery, closing with the message, ‘Diwali decor and more, only on Instamart.’ The idea keeps home décor at the centre while subtly expanding the conversation to the platform’s wider festive shopping offering.

Instamart Gives Diwali Décor a Quirky Twist With a Man Wearing a Chandelier, saying: “Most Diwali films show lit-up homes and family moments. We wanted to do something different this time, so we kept the décor at the centre and let the humour do the rest. A man wearing a chandelier is silly, but it makes people look at the category. Diwali shopping is never just one thing, so we’re letting people know that décor and the rest of the festive list are all on Instamart. Just maybe not as an outfit.”

Beyond the unusual visual, the campaign also draws attention to the variety available on Instamart during the festive season. Its catalogue spans linen and furnishings, home décor, cleaning supplies, electronics, home appliances, and beauty and personal care hampers, bringing multiple household and celebration-related needs onto one platform.

The creative approach reflects how brands are finding new ways to stand out during a festive period filled with familiar advertising formats. Instead of another film built around glowing diyas, decorated homes and family gatherings, Instamart chooses an image that is difficult to overlook. The chandelier-as-outfit gag gives the campaign its recall value, while the wider product assortment reinforces the platform’s convenience proposition. More importantly, it demonstrates how a simple, unexpected visual can turn an otherwise routine product category into the centre of a memorable brand story.
