Google has launched Search profiles in India, giving eligible creators a way to bring their social media accounts and content platforms together in a single profile that can appear in Google Search and Discover.

The feature allows creators to link supported accounts, add social links and update their biographies, helping audiences find their work across platforms when searching for their names. Search profiles are currently available in India, the United States and Canada.

To qualify, creators must be at least 18 years old and have a minimum of 10,000 followers or subscribers on at least one supported platform: YouTube, Instagram, X or TikTok. Their content must also comply with Google’s policies.

How creators can claim a Search profile

Creators can check whether Google has already generated a profile for them before setting up a new one. Those with an existing Google knowledge panel may have an unclaimed profile linked to their online presence.

To claim or create a profile, eligible users can visit profile.google.com/claim, sign in with their Google account and connect at least one supported social or content platform. They can then add other eligible accounts, update their biography and manage the links associated with their profile.

Google assigns the profile handle based on the most-followed linked platform account, subject to availability. The feature also allows users to manage up to 10 separate Search profiles for eligible brands or identities through a single Google account, offering flexibility to creators who operate multiple channels, podcasts or distinct online brands.

What Search profiles mean for the creator economy

The launch gives creators another way to present their work to audiences discovering them through Google, rather than relying solely on individual social platforms to connect their content with new viewers.

By bringing social accounts and content links together, Search profiles can provide a central destination for audiences looking to explore a creator’s work. Google may also surface profile information when users search for a creator’s name, while audiences can discover content through Google Discover.

For creators building businesses across multiple platforms, the feature offers a way to manage their public identity within Google’s ecosystem. However, a profile does not guarantee increased visibility or traffic; its impact will depend on how audiences discover and engage with it.
