New Delhi, 6 November 2025: Swati Bhattacharya, one of India’s most celebrated creative minds, has announced her decision to step down as Head of Lightbox Creative Lab at Godrej Consumer Products Ltd (GCPL), effective January 1, 2026.
In an official statement released on October 24, 2025, GCPL confirmed Bhattacharya’s departure, noting that she chose to explore new opportunities as the role no longer aligned with her professional strengths and long-term goals. The company expressed appreciation for her contributions and extended its best wishes as she moves forward into her next chapter.
During her time at GCPL, Bhattacharya was part of the Global Management Committee and led the company’s in-house creative hub, Lightbox Creative Lab. The unit was designed to bring storytelling, design, and digital creativity together under one roof. With her at the helm, Lightbox became a space where ideas met emotion, and brand narratives were infused with a sense of purpose and personality across GCPL’s portfolio, from household brands to personal care products.
Before her stint at GCPL, Bhattacharya’s name had already become synonymous with meaningful storytelling in Indian advertising. As Creative Chairperson at FCB India, she was the force behind some of the industry’s most powerful campaigns, including ‘Sindoor Khela – No Conditions Apply’ for The Times of India. The campaign, which questioned social barriers and redefined tradition through inclusivity, won global acclaim, including honors at Cannes Lions, and cemented her reputation as a storyteller who could move hearts while sparking conversation.
Her professional journey spans more than three decades, beginning humbly as a copy trainee at JWT. Over the years, she steadily climbed the creative ladder, first becoming the National Creative Director at JWT India, then serving as Principal Partner at Dentsu India, before ultimately stepping into the role of Chief Creative Officer at FCB.
Those who have worked with Bhattacharya often describe her as a rare blend of empathy and instinct a leader who believes that the best ideas are born not just from insights, but from understanding people. Her work has consistently reflected her belief that advertising has the power to shape culture, not just sell products.
With her exit from GCPL, many in the industry are curious about her next move. Will she return to agency life, create something of her own, or take her creativity in a new direction altogether? Whatever comes next, one thing is certain her voice will continue to inspire a generation of storytellers who see creativity as a force for change.
