New Delhi, 7 November 2025 : Chandrika Deb, the Country Manager for Canva India, has stated that the objective is evident: to position India as the leading market for Canva on a global scale. “In recent years, we have experienced substantial growth at a strong double-digit rate, and there is no reason to believe that India cannot play a leading role in Canva’s global expansion,” She stated during an interview with PTI.

India’s creative momentum is difficult to ignore. With more than 2.8 billion designs already created on Canva and 2.5 million new designs added every day, the country has become a vibrant hub of design innovation. Students, freelancers, entrepreneurs, and educators are using Canva to express ideas, build brands, and bring creativity into classrooms.
Deb stated that India possesses one of the largest communities of students and creators in the world. “We are witnessing remarkable acceptance across all categories, from small enterprises to professional knowledge workers, all utilizing Canva in their daily tasks and personal endeavors.”
AI and Hyperlocal Innovation at the Core
Driving this expansion is the swift embrace of Canva’s AI-enhanced tools, including Magic Write, Magic Design, and Translation features aimed at simplifying the creative process. India’s technology-oriented, mobile-centric population has rapidly adopted these advancements, utilizing them for design while on the move.
Canva has also focused heavily on localization, tailoring its platform to reflect India’s diverse culture and traditions. “We’ve introduced hyperlocal content for Indian users, from festival templates to wedding invitations, making design feel familiar and relevant,” Deb explained.
Empowering Education and Small Businesses
A crucial element of Canva’s strategy in India is to promote empowerment by forming partnerships. The organization has recently partnered with NCERT to initiate a teacher certification program aimed at assisting educators in incorporating design thinking into their classrooms. In addition to its educational efforts, Canva is also forming collaborations with small business communities and government agencies to assist organizations in enhancing their design skills. Over 500 Indian creators now collaborate with Canva to co-develop local templates, ensuring that the platform reflects India’s creative diversity.
Building a Truly Local Product
For Canva, India isn’t just another market—it’s an opportunity to reimagine how design can connect with culture. “Our mission is to reach every user in India and empower them to design confidently, “That means investing in a product that feels local culturally, linguistically, and socially.”” Deb said. Given that India’s AI industry is projected to reach $17 billion by 2027, as indicated by a report from Nasscom-BCG, Canva’s timing is exceptionally favorable.
As Canva continues to evolve from a design tool into a creative ecosystem, its Indian users are at the heart of that transformation, driving not just growth but a new era of visual communication rooted in culture, creativity, and technology.
