Grey India has named Harsh Kapadia as its new Chief Creative Officer (CCO), marking a strategic move to elevate the agency’s creative prowess in one of its key markets. Kapadia, originally from Mumbai, brings with him global experience spanning four continents and a portfolio of impactful work for major brands including Google, Reckitt, Motorola, Lego, New Balance, and Diageo.
Previously the CCO at MRM New York, Kapadia returns to the WPP network, where he has earlier held roles at VML and JWT. In his new role, he will be based in India and report directly to Gabriel Schmitt, Grey’s Global Chief Creative Officer.
“India is a culturally rich and economically dynamic market,” said Schmitt. “To deliver world-class work for our clients, we need bold, strategic creative leadership. Harsh’s international experience, paired with his understanding of Indian culture, makes him the perfect fit. With Harsh and Anusha Shetty leading Grey India, we’re set to offer our clients unmatched creative partnerships and breakthrough ideas.”
Kapadia will work closely with Anusha Shetty, CEO of Grey India, overseeing operations across Mumbai, Delhi, and Bangalore. Together, they will focus on delivering creative solutions rooted in Indian insights while staying aligned with global standards.
Sarah Trombetta, CEO of Grey APAC, commented on the leadership synergy:
“Combining Anusha’s proven leadership with Harsh’s creative vision, which spans everything from AI-led innovations to classic storytelling, gives Grey India a formidable edge. This is a defining moment for our India office.”
She also announced the departure of Sandipan Bhattacharyya, who is moving on after nearly a decade with Grey India. “We are grateful for Sandipan’s contributions and wish him continued success in his next chapter,” she said.
Sharing her excitement, Anusha Shetty said:
“Welcoming Harsh back to India is a big win for us. He’s a creative powerhouse with a deep passion for technology-infused storytelling. His experience and energy will be key to driving the next wave of growth and innovation at Grey.”
Harsh Kapadia expressed his enthusiasm for the role:
“I’m excited to return to WPP and lead Grey India during such a transformative time. Partnering with Anusha and the talented team here, I look forward to embracing the agency’s philosophy of Cultural MacGyverism—fusing sharp local insights with the latest in creative technology to deliver work that truly moves the needle.”
With Kapadia at the creative helm, Grey India aims to redefine its creative trajectory and deliver high-impact campaigns for its clients across platforms.
